Ontario GeoHub

The following spatial datasets were access from the Province of Ontario’s open data portal “GeoHub” on 2022-11-07.

• Oak Ridges Moraine (ORM) Land Use Designation

  This data set contains land use designations for the Oak Ridges Moraine.

• Natural Heritage System Area

  Systems of natural core areas and key natural corridors or linkages, such as rivers and valleys, with significant ecological value for use in land use planning.

• Ontario Hydro Network (OHN) - Waterbody

  Shows the location of waterbodies in Ontario as part of the Ontario Hydro Network (OHN).

• Ontario Hydro Network (OHN) - Watercourse

  Shows the location of watercourses in Ontario as part of the Ontario Hydro Network (OHN).

• Wetlands

  Provides a spatial representation and attribute information for Ontario wetlands.

• Southern Ontario Land Resource Information System (SOLRIS) 3.0

  SOLRIS is a primary data layer that provides a comprehensive, standardized, landscape level inventory of natural, rural and urban land use.

• Building to Scale

  Shows the location of permanent buildings and structures in Ontario.

• Built-Up Area

  Identifies built-up areas in the province of Ontario as defined in the Southern Ontario Land Resource Information System (SOLRIS).

• Ontario Road Network (ORN) Road Net Element

• Ontario Railway Network (ORWN)

  The Ontario Railway Network (tracks only)

• Species Monitored Subject Tracking Point

  Mapping the presence and progress of a monitored species subject on the landscape at a specific date, time and location through tracking technologies (e.g. GPS collar). Information collected used in specific species studies and aids in the identification of the occurrence of a species.

• Greenbelt designation

  This layer was built to show the component parts of the Greenbelt Area as set out in Ontario Regulation 59/05, as amended.

• Greenbelt specialty crop areas

  This layer identifies the location of specialty crop areas in the Greenbelt Plan, namely the Niagara Peninsula Tender Fruit and Grape Lands and the Holland Marsh.

• Built Boundary for the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006

  This layer was built to show the built up areas of the GGH growth plan.

• Lake Simcoe Protection Plan (2009)

  The Lake Simcoe Protection Act watershed boundary

• Provincial Digital Elevation Model (PDEM)

  Represents true ground elevation across the province.

• Conservation authority administrative area

  Ontario Conservation Authority boundaries that intersect the Oak Ridges Moraine.

• Municipal Boundary - Lower and Single Tier

  Lower Tier Municipal Boundaries that intersect the Oak Ridges Moraine.

• Municipal Boundary - Upper Tier and District

  Upper Tier Municipal Boundaries that intersect the Oak Ridges Moraine.

• Aggregate Sites (Authorized)

  Includes both active and inactive sites.

• Ontario Water and Weather Monitoring Stations

  Point locations of water and weather monitoring stations used to assess flood and drought.

• Fishing Access Point

  Fishing access locations in Ontario.

• Petroleum Well

  Location of wells that have been drilled for oil production, gas or salt resources or for underground storage of hydrocarbons in Ontario.

• Tower

  Location of structures or buildings classified as towers in Ontario.

• Open Database of Buildings (ODB)

  A collection of open data building footprints made available under the Open Government License Canada.

• Indian Reserve

  Identifies Indian Reserve boundaries defined by the Legal Surveys Division of Natural Resources Canada.

• 2021 Road Network File

  Depicts the location and names of all streets, highways, and other road segments in Canada.

• Ontario Trail Network (OTN) Segment

  Represents the trails in urban, rural and wilderness settings managed by a named organization for transportation, active living or tourism.

• 2021 Census – Boundary files: Population Centres

  Depicts the boundaries of populated land in Canada.

• Area of natural and scientific interest (ANSI)

  Polygon features that represent land and waters containing important natural landscapes or features in Ontario.
